The role:

Booking.com (Singapore) Pte Ltd, one of the support companies in Singapore, is looking for a Payroll Controller/ Supervisor in Singapore. You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge of payrolling, benefits & country specific legislation to support Booking.com BV’ with its business growth in the APAC region. The Payroll Controller / Supervisor will develop scalable solutions for delivering high quality payroll support and will ensure alignment with our global practices.

In depth knowledge on payroll practices in APAC is a key part to this however a broader skill set will drive your success in this role. A person with proven project & people management and outstanding communication skills will thrive in this role.

This will be a full-time position based in our Singapore office, reporting to the Global Team Leader Payroll who is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the Payroll Team based in Singapore by providing continuous guidance & support on country specific challenges & projects
  • Establish strong, effective relationships with your key stakeholders regionally & globally to ensure operational excellence & high level support to the business
  • Maintain oversight on regional & global payroll priorities, and ensure that the Payroll Team is on the right track
  • Own regional & global payroll projects, and ensure timely, effective execution & roll out to your team and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for improvement in your region or on global level, and establish & manage a project plan to achieve the desired results
  • Be a first point of contact for both internal and external audits in the APAC region. Provide support to your team in establishing & improving payroll workflows and controls where necessary to meet audit requirements.
  • Act as a reviewer of the monthly payroll runs including statutory reporting, reconciliations, flux & DBDI uploads, and adhoc payments for up to 23 entities in APAC. Provide support to your fellow Payroll Controllers to review in EMEA & LATAM regions if necessary. Ensure that payrolls are in line with the established pay dates & other local statutory deadlines.
  • Act as a Payroll Specialist for 2 to 3 small entities to ensure in depth understanding of payroll workflows on country level, and challenge processes.

Skills

You have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience payroll practices in a global, fast pace environment. Knowledge on tax & social security laws particularly for Greater China & Japan regions will be an advantage
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in managing a multicultural team
  • You have strong leadership skills, and are able to lead a unified team with shared vision, shared goals, and with overwhelming desire to make your team succeed and continuously develop
  • Knowledge in payroll systems such as Workday/SAP & integrations is a plus
  • You are a strong project manager with an eye for detail, results and strong follow-through, while still being hands-on and are keeping a global oversight
  • You juggle priorities with ease and know how to make good trade-offs when needed
  • You are strong in messaging and influencing skills, and use that to partner with and influence your key stakeholders
  • You must be self-motivated and self-managed, a problem-solver, passionate about what you do, driven and a natural connector of people
  • Excellent communication skills in English both oral and written
  • Bachelor/Master degree in related field is required
  • If you do not reside in Singapore you are able to relocate to Singapore. Booking.com will support the work visa application and the relocation process.
